Pasochoa an extinct volcano, is the perfect start for beginners in trekking and hiking and also for people starting an acclimatization program. As a bonus you have good chances to spot condors and you will be hiking through remains of a primary Andean rainforest.
As an initiation for climbing and hiking, or as part of an acclimatisation program, the trek to Pasochoa is perfect for you. Furthermore, the hike offers you chances to discover an ancient rainforest, admire fabulous landscapes including the Cotopaxi, and observe hummingbirds and condors
The tour starts at 6:30am from Masaya and you will then travel for 1,5 hours before reaching the Pasochoa reserve. After a short brief and instructions you will start your hike which should take you between 3 to 4 hours depending on your level of fitness and experience.
It is not a very difficult hike, and therefore you will have plenty of opportunities to observe the beautiful fauna and flora and rich ecological biodiversity through its variety of landscapes such as rainforest, volcanic or pasturelands. At the end of the hike, you will enjoy a delicious and well-deserved lunch before returning to Quito at around 4 pm.
