How to get to Santa Marta: There are direct buses to Berlinas or Marsol (approximately 5-6 hours). The route follows the coast eastward, so you can take advantage of the opportunity to explore other beach spots along the way.
It's quieter than Cartagena, but just as authentic. Perfect for using as a base to explore nearby places like Tayrona, Minca or Palomino. It has that relaxed atmosphere but with plans every day if you want to get around and prefer to party, Brisa Loca It's the spot: one block from the beach, with partying almost every day and travelers from everywhere.
How to get to Minca: From Santa Marta, a jeep or motorcycle taxi takes you there in less than 40 minutes. Here, you can go from the warmth of the beach to the coolness of the mountains in a flash.
Why stop here? It's the perfect break. Minca It's fresh, green, and full of waterfalls, viewpoints, and organic coffee. It's the perfect place to recharge after several days at the beach.
How to get to Tayrona: You return to Santa Marta and take a bus to the park entrance (approximately 1 hour). It makes sense because you'll be returning to the coast to close the route with one of the top destinations.
If you have time (hopefully you do), continue to Tayrona. Why stop here? Because it combines everything: jungle hikes, pristine beaches, and rivers perfect for tubing. The atmosphere is backpacker-friendly, relaxed, and has a strong travel community vibe.
How to follow the trip: You can go to Palomino (30-40 minutes by bus) if you want to extend your route, or return to Santa Marta to move on to your next destination in Colombia.
