SUMAPAZ IS ONE OF THE MAIN ECOSYSTEMS OF PÁRAMOS THAT EXIST IN THE COUNTRY, ITS IMPORTANCE LIES NOT ONLY IN ITS ATTRACTIVE LANDSCAPE, BUT BECAUSE HERE THEY INHABIT UNIQUE SPECIES OF FLORA AND FAUNA. IT IS THE LARGEST BIOTIC RESERVE IN THE COLOMBIAN ANDES AND ONE OF THE LARGEST WATER RESERVES IN THE COUNTRY.
The Andean paramos and their water wells are a unique environment. Between 3,500 and 4,000 meters above sea level, Sumapaz is a place of biodiversity like no other. The largest of its kind in the world. It is also the most important water source in the region. It is a cold, humid and vast environment, and a natural wonder that you can not miss. We will start the day sharing breakfast at the home of a peasant, we will then prepare our lunch while we venture into the wasteland. There, they will teach us the most important indigenous traditions that were practiced before the colonization, the ecological and cultural importance of the park, the flora and the local fauna. After lunch we will take a well-deserved rest before returning to the capital.
